ABOUT US
It all started when I moved away to be on my own and started missing the foods of my childhood. I picked up my camera to share these meals online & quickly realized I wasn’t the only one missing a piece of home. All it takes is the smell of sofrito hitting the pan, a cafecito in the morning, the smell of bread being baked in the oven, or a plate of arroz con habichuelas to have you saying, “Damn… I miss home.” And being born and raised in New York, home can feel like a funny thing. It can be Puerto Rico, but it can also be your first apartment in Brooklyn on that block in Sunset Park. That’s where El Rinconcito was born because as we get older, home isn’t a place you can easily go back to. El Rinconcito is my love letter to the foods, stories & little traditions that raised us. A little corner for our recipes, our stories, our nostalgia & all the little things that make us feel closer to home. A place to keep the foods we grew up with alive, share the ones we’re still learning, & make room for new ones along the way. I believe culture isn’t just something we inherit. It’s something we cook. We share it. We teach it. We pass it down.
And sometimes, we put a recipe in an envelope & send it across the country. 💌
So welcome to El Rinconcito, my little corner of home, made for anyone who’s ever missed a taste of theirs.
Agarra una silla,
There’s always room at the table. ❤️
